On the morning of March 5, a press conference for Netflix’s highly anticipated series “When Life Gives You Tangerines” was held at the Conrad Hotel in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The event was attended by director Kim Won-seok and lead actors IU, Park Bo-gum, Moon So-ri, and Park Hae-jun.

During the conference, IU addressed her decision to unify her stage name across both her music and acting careers. “In the past, I was credited as ‘IU’ for music and ‘Lee Ji-eun’ for acting, but I realized it only complicated things for reporters, so I decided to unify it,” she explained.
She continued, “I debuted as IU, and when people hear the name IU, they immediately think of me. Whether I’m singing or acting, it’s still the same person expressing it.” She then affirmed, “I will continue to promote as IU in the future.”

Director Kim Won-seok, who previously worked with IU on “My Mister,” had nothing but praise for her talent. Reflecting on their past collaboration, he stated, “She’s an incredible actress. Even back then, she was already great, but I think ‘My Mister’ helped more people recognize her talent. She didn’t grow into a great actress because of that drama – she was already a great actress.” He further expressed admiration for IU’s dedication, adding, “She continues to evolve musically while also improving as an actress. It amazes me how she keeps growing in both fields.”

Meanwhile, “When Life Gives You Tangerines” is a Netflix series that follows the adventurous life journey of Ae-soon (played by IU and Moon So-ri) and Gwan-sik (played by Park Bo-gum and Park Hae-jun), set against the backdrop of Jeju Island. The 16-episode drama will be released in batches of four episodes per week, starting March 7.
